Fishing Master Beginner Guide: Land Your First Fish
Equip a rod with a fishing skill, hold to time your cast, work through the fish fight, then use the skill at the white finishing marker. A hooked fish becomes usable progress only after you land it.
Your first complete catch
- 01
Follow the starter tutorial
The walkthrough’s tutorial sends you to the skill seller, shows how to attach a skill to your rod, and then takes you to the fishing spot. Complete the equip step before casting.
- 02
Hold to cast
Hold the mouse control to move the cast meter. Time the release for the green zone shown in your session. Repeated tapping does not perform the same cast action.
- 03
Work through the fight
Click to damage the fish and respond to the directional minigame. Use the directions displayed on screen; fixed keyboard claims would miss device or control changes.
- 04
Keep a skill ready for the finish
Basic clicking reaches a white marker where the walkthrough requires a skill to land the fish. Activate an equipped skill when it can finish the encounter.
- 05
Confirm the catch, then sell deliberately
Wait for the fish to enter your inventory. Check whether it belongs to a quest before selling it to the Fish Merchant. The selling guide explains what to keep.
When the first catch stalls
| What you see | What to do | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| The cast never begins | Hold the cast input and watch the meter. | The demonstrated cast uses a held input. |
| Damage stops at the white marker | Check your equipped skill and its cooldown. | The demonstrated finish needs a skill. |
| A prompt interrupts the fight | Answer the displayed direction before continuing. | Clicking is only part of the encounter. |
| The skill is still cooling down | Finish the prompt sequence and save the next ready skill for the marker. | Using it immediately can leave it unavailable at the finish. |
Choose one useful next improvement
If you can land ordinary fish but fights are slow, compare an affordable rod’s displayed damage. If you cannot finish a fish, fix skill attachment and timing first. If the next island is locked, keep its required fish and save its entry coins.
For example, the test-server Jungle gate asks for 40,000 coins. At 30,000 coins, the remaining coin gap is 10,000; that does not mean a more expensive rod is automatically the next purchase. Read the island gate and decide which obstacle you are solving.
