Fishing Master Rods: Purchases and Hidden Quest Routes
Use the island vendor for ordinary rod upgrades, then check hidden NPC quests for later rods. Before switching, move your skill book using the current official transfer rule.
When a rod purchase solves the problem
The creator compares clicking damage on an older rod with stronger offers at the Jungle vendor. An old rod can still fish in an unlocked area, but higher fish health makes the encounter harder. Buy for a visible damage improvement when slow catches are your obstacle; a rod does not pay an island gate for you.
Keep a second budget for access fees and quest items. The prices in the following reference are test-server narration, not live shop quotes. Match the actual offer before paying.
For a test-server example, the narrator compares 217 clicking damage on the held rod with Jungle vendor listings of 722 and 1,350. Read the displayed stat on the offer you can afford. These source figures do not establish a current rod ranking or a multiplier with identical buffs.

Turn a rod quest into a farming plan
From zero, the narrated Legacy route needs a 3,000,000-coin Snow purchase, another 3,000,000-coin Volcano quest fee and 100 catches using Legacy Rod: 6,000,000 coins in total. Bamboo instead asks for 3,600,000 coins and 20 Jungle bamboo fragments. Compare which items you already have and which route you can reach; these costs do not establish which reward has better current stats.

Check the exact NPC request
Record the current rod/book names, fish origin and coin amount. Translation uncertainty is a reason to compare the menu, not guess an item.

Keep unused books unattached and reserve quest fish. For Bamboo Rod, check fragment inventory after catches on Jungle.

Use the required rod for counted catches
For the Volcano Legacy quest, equip Legacy Rod before working on the 100-catch counter. Read quest progress after an ordinary completed catch.

Move skills before replacing your rod
Unattach a book from the old rod before attaching to the replacement, as the current official FAQ instructs. Read any removal confirmation first.
Why this is an acquisition guide rather than a tier list
The source establishes several costs, item conditions and locations. It does not provide a reliable current damage, luck, slot and cooldown table for every rod.
